How to organise blind dates and singles mixers in India (without an awkward room)
Singles mixers and blind-date nights fail in predictable ways: thirty men and six women, strangers you know nothing about, or a venue booked for forty when twelve turn up. Every one of these is solvable before the night — if your ticketing is built for it.
The three problems every singles host has
- The balance drifts. You promise “50:50”, but bookings don’t care about your caption.
- You don’t know who is coming. For a dating night, the host is responsible for the room.
- You don’t know if it will fill. Venues want a guarantee; people book late.
Keep the room balanced: the 50:50 crowd balance
Create two ticket types — one for women, one for men — and turn on “Keep a 50:50 crowd” with an allowed gap (say 2). When one side gets that far ahead, its tickets pause on their own until the other side catches up, then reopen. Guests see “paused for now”, not “sold out”.
Choose who comes: approve guests first (optional)
Turn on approval and ask two or three questions — Instagram handle, age range, what they do. People send a request; nothing is charged. You approve the ones who fit, and only they get a link to pay and then their pass. Declined people never pay, so there is nothing to refund.
Or: only go ahead if enough people join
Not sure the night will fill? Use the minimum guest goal instead. People reserve for free; when your number is reached, everyone gets a payment link. If it never fills, nobody has paid.
Pick one of the two for a given night: with the goal on, everyone on the list is confirmed together when it is reached, so approval doesn’t apply to them.
Details that make it feel safe
- Keep the venue private until booking if it’s someone’s home or a private space.
- Every pass shows your name and a WhatsApp / Call button, plus your on-ground host if someone else runs the night.
- Book your own event as a guest first (Try booking) — nothing is charged or saved.
A sample setup (example)

After the night
Repeat the event with everything copied and a new date. Guests who loved it can follow you in the Yano Android app and get a quiet notification when you announce the next one.
Try it for your next gathering
Free to start. Guests pay you directly; Yano never holds your ticket money. Free events cost nothing.
Questions people ask
Can I see how many men and women have booked?
Yes. Your dashboard shows each ticket type’s sales, and when one side is paused.
Can I charge different prices for men and women?
Each ticket type has its own price. Many hosts keep them the same; whatever you choose, say it clearly in your description.
What does Yano cost?
Free passes cost nothing. Each paid pass uses one credit (₹6–₹10). New organisers start with 50 free credits. Guests pay you directly.
